Shire Valley agricultural development Division

Shire Valley Agricultural Development Division consists of two districts namely Chikwawa and Nsanje. The ADD is structured into 11 Extension Planning Areas (EPA) that are subdivided into 182 agriculture sections. Furthermore, the ADD is organised into 17 dipping areas and dip tanks. It has a total area of 684,000 ha (490,000 ha in Chikwawa and 194,000 ha in Nsanje). The total cultivable land is 313,215 hectares (257,902ha for Chikwawa and 55,308ha for Nsanje. Both districts have a lot of potential for crop, fisheries, and livestock production.
