I find the theme for this year’s Congress, “Diversification and Value Addition For Climate Change Impact Resilience” to be very relevant considering what farmers have gone through in the current farming season; dry spells, hail storms, tropical cyclones, all in one season. Farmers struggled to raise tobacco nurseries as most areas were dry and delays of rains meant more labour and thus costly to the farmer. |
This morning, the Minister of Agriculture Lobin Lowe, MP, together with his Deputy Minister Hon. Agnes Nkusankhoma, MP, as well as the Principal Secretary and other Ministry officials had talks with a delegation from Policy Support for Agriculture Transformation Project (PolSAT) and MwAPATA to discuss a number of issues surrounding Commercialization, resilience, diversification, mechanisation, megafarms and other areas that need be considered for Agriculture Transformation.

This year has really been a good year where God has given us successes in many spheres of Agriculture.
Our Agriculture Production Estimate Survey for this year shows that we have registered an increase in all species of animals across the country with Local Chickens registering the highest increase of 28.4% from 176,810,939 chickens to 227,140,227.
