Mission

A sustainable livestock development to improve economic and nutritional well-being of Malawians and rural livelihood while guaranteeing the safety of the general public from consumption and utilization of livestock, livestock products and by-products.


Mandate

The mandate of Crop Development Department in the Ministry is to address the knowledge gap at frontline extension workers level and specialized crop based farmer organizations; and provide crop production technical services in order to enhance effective diffusion of technologies released by the Agricultural Technology Clearing Committee (ATCC) and provide services for farm mechanisation, migratory pest control and seed certification.

To contribute towards improved households and national food security,poverty reduction and economic growth through sustainable livestock development.

To promote sustainable livestock development and protect the general public from zoonotic diseases through the delivery of animal production and veterinary services.
